Our Curriculum

Puzzles curriculum is the best of what we provide for our children. It is made up of six learning areas: Social Skills & Diversity, Emotional Skills, Cognitive Abilities, Communication, Language & Literacy, Physical Health, and Imagination & Creativity.

Music and Movement

We make sure to balance quiet and active times for our children. Incorporating music and movement into early childhood education can help young children with development, social interaction and language growth. We try to create an environment that is not only fun but educational.

Social Skills and Diversity

Living in a diverse community such as the North Shore, gives us the opportunity to explore different cultures. At Puzzles, we make an effort to celebrate all cultures so every child feels included.

Drama

Our drama program helps develope creativity, imagination and teamwork. It provides opportunities for the children to express their feelings using their body language. A dramatic play area is set up in our play-area that consists of different costumes the children can play roles with, such as: construction, nurse, doctor, and barber.

Science

The Science curriculum is strongly guided by the children and follows a project-based approach. This program greatly nurtures our children’s creative thinking skills, leadership skills and reasoning abilities. children learn about their subject by observing, describing, and experimenting. We have science experiments twice a week.

Language

Language development is important to our children in order to adequately communicate with their peers. Our teachers encourage the development of language skills with a child by interacting regularly, singing songs and reading simple stories. At circle time, the children can talk about their day or explain their likes and dislikes. We also play games with the children that improve their verbal communication skills.

Arts

As kids make art, their fine motor skills improve. By counting pieces and colors, they learn the basics of math. When children experiment with materials, they dabble in science. It boosts their self-confidence and that is why we incorporate art into our daily program.
